Backhoe Operator Equipment Operator-Comfort Systems USA Inc. Mid South

Employee Value Proposition:

This position is responsible for heavy equipment operations with excavation on commercial plumbing projects. Candidate will have at least five (5) years’ experience in the operation of backhoes. This position will require the person to be on a jobsite (Deatsville, AL) and/or in the office (Montgomery, AL).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe operation of excavating equipment
  • Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade
  • Transport excavation equipment to designated job sites
  • Be aware of changes in soil conditions and materials that impact operations
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with company safety policies
  • Maintain OSHA compliance on jobsite
  • Be observant of the condition of equipment and materials used to ensure that company standards are met and promptly report any problems or defects.
  • Backfill trench upon completion of inspection by local code enforcement
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards such as marked utility lines, other equipment and workers
  • Complete any necessary paperwork and submit it to the office in a timely manner
  • Report any damages to personal property or injuries to supervision immediately
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills needed from the Ideal Candidate

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Class A CDL License, preferred
  • experienced with backhoe, mini excavator, Bobcat, skid steer, Dump Truck, Line/Auger Truck (a plus)

  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, kneel, climb, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs
  • Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test in accordance to our Company Substance Abuse Policy
