Recently named a Forbes America’s Best-In-State Employer 2022! $10,000.00 SIGN-ON BONUS Available (connect with our Talent Acquisition team on eligibility requirements) Responsibilities: The Ophthalmic Tech will work Full Time, Days and assists the Ophthalmologists/Optometrists with obtaining and recording an accurate patient history. The Ophthalmic Tech assists the Ophthalmologists/Optometrists with performing basic visual tests and lensometry. The Ophthalmic Tech assists the Ophthalmologists/Optometrists with providing appropriate care to patients ranging from infancy to geriatric. The Ophthalmic Tech performs basic tonometry. The Ophthalmic Tech assures proper instrument maintenance. The Ophthalmic Tech maintains general competencies and medical knowledge in order to perform job functions. Qualifications: Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. Education/Qualifications: A high school diploma is required.Experience: Previous patient care experience is highly desirable.Licensure/Certificates: N/A.Skills: Ability to learn to use screening and diagnostic ophthalmic equipment.Ability to properly operate ophthalmic equipment.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ration and percent to draw bar graphs.Ability to use and convert to and from English and American units of measurement.Basic knowledge of anatomy is required. Additional Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients and other employees.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use computers.Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent normal walking, standing and sitting. You must have the ability to frequently stoop, bend, and lean forward and backward.Occasionally position may need to assist with transferring patients from wheelchair into examining chair and assist with other similar transfers. This position frequently uses their hands, arms and shoulders. The work location is a normal clinic environment. Position requires frequent contact with patients and many departments within the hospital and the clinic setting. The position is weekdays. Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.
