Role: Public Relations Manager

Industry: Wine & Spirits Company

Location: Hybrid- NY

Direct Reports: PR Associate

Travel: 25%

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the SVP, PR on media relations and tell the stories of various winery partners around the world
  • Handle external PR communications and submissions across print, broadcast, and online media; share results with internal teams
  • Lead content creation and drive those efforts through to completion
  • Work closely with trade publications inclusive of Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, etc.
  • Create press kit materials, news releases, producer profiles and backgrounders, technical sheets, tasting notes, and pitch letters
  • Bring and build upon current connections within the wine space, and form new relationships to drive brand stories forward
  • Ability to bring a new generation of writers and fresh faces and voices to the forefront
  • Lead press tours and events (approx. 1x per month) nationally and internationally
  • Assist with the overhaul of the corporate website with a focus on a storytelling approach
  • Manage PR associate and oversee their submissions to publications and competitions as well as media monitoring
  • Bring new ideas to the table and help improve processes

Candidate Profile:

  • Industry experience in wine and/or spirits (ideally wine)
  • Has media contacts and connections in the wine space- MUST HAVE
  • Experience in online media necessary
  • Comfortable pitching stories to the media
  • Comfortable and confident in communicating with winemakers, estate owners, and the internal leadership team
  • Nimble mindset with a multi tasking approach
  • Creative about bringing ideas into the marketplace
  • Proactive and independent worker; additionally a strong team player
  • Outgoing and enjoys interacting with industry professionals and clients
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Takes a leadership and ownership approach to their work
  • Experience collaborating with a team and a desire to manage team members
